New $52M Federal Grant to Raise Mobility Innovation in Michigan

The Detroit Regional Partnership Foundation is to obtain a $52.2 million federal grant from a Section of Commerce application to boost and advance mobility innovation in the auto field, officials explained Friday.

The Michigan proposal was among 21 winners of a $1 billion challenge funded by previous year’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus reduction package deal. The intent is to create positions and “rebuild” regional economies, the White House reported.

The grant, awarded by the U.S. Financial Enhancement Administration, aims to speed up financial expansion and target on the changeover to subsequent-technology electric, autonomous and entirely connected motor vehicles.
